Stormy Weather...........just say thank you!

Just Say Thank You...
One day about ten years ago, I was sitting in my bathroom with the door closed and the toilet seat down, booing and ahooing on the phone so uncontrollably that I was incoherent.
"Stop it! Stop it right now and say thank you!" Maya chided. "But -- you don't understand," I sobbed.
To this day, I can't remember what it was that had me so far gone, which only proves the point Maya was trying to make. "I do understand," she told me. "I want to hear you say it now. Out loud."
"Thank you." Tentatively, I repeated it:
"Thank you -- but what am I saying thank you for?"
"You're saying thank you," Maya said, "because your faith is so strong that you don't doubt that whatever the problem, you'll get through it. you're saying thank you because you know that even in the eye of the storm, God has put a rainbow in the clouds.
You're saying thank you because you know there's no problem created that can compare to the Creator of all things.
Say thank you!"
story told by Oprah Winfrey about mentor Maya Angelou

Life happens...
the sun moves behind a cloud
the wind begins to stir
clear skies
turn
to grey
the sun pokes it's rays through
swirling together
hues of a magnificent palate
beautiful from afar
but
oh my
when standing in the center of a whirlwind
when rain begins to fall on our head,
we forget
that
storms come and go and color our world
wind blows away the heat of the day,
rain washes over mistakes
clears the slate
if you will
We humans
tend to not like standing in the storm
chaos---it's not so enjoyable--
and
our ride
if it gets rocky
often we feel
at loss as to how we are going to cope
let alone survive.

I've learned
that in the midst of the places
where fear
rushes over me
waves splash around
tentacles of world control
wrap themselves tightly around me...
I can't breath
think i might die
perhaps
that would be the easier softer way
and my truth is
I've never ever done it
the easier softer way--it feels like cheating in a sense.

So in the midst of the storm
when tears and fear and heartache
move over
as the cloud that follows Pooh's Eeyore...
I have come to believe
if
I look toward the Sun....
Believe that it is still there
remember the rays on my skin
and
the warmth of it's nurture...
When I say
thank you
to the Universe...
I am able to stand
right in the center of hurricane winds
and
my roots
grab anchor
and
even when I think
I might be blown away...
my heart
believe and knows
that
the source of creation
will protect me
empower me
surround me
.....

that's when I say it...
Thank you!!!
Thank you!!!!
Thank you!!!
for
it is true you know
that thing
that Maya said on that day....
if and when and believing
in the
Power
bigger than ourselves
and we say it
"because our faith is so strong that we don't doubt that whatever the problem, we'll get through it. We're saying thank you because we know that even in the eye of the storm, God has put a rainbow in the clouds.
We're saying thank you because we know there's no problem created that can compare to the Creator of all things.
Say thank you....

Go ahead
I double dog dare you...
triple dog even...
say it
utter it
believe it
Thank you...because you will get through it.

Storms...they come and go and color our world
impact us
scare the hell out of us
but
weathering them teaches us something
about
the world,
God
and ourselves.

On this Wednesday Evening..
if your booing and ahooing on the floor
turn your eyes toward the
Creator of the Universe
the
Power bigger than yourself
and
utter a whisper of
thank you.....
and
see what happens next.

Happy Wednesday and Hugs...

Sometimes, I have to sing/say praises, even though my heart may feel chilled, I have to say it...as a reminder...I have to say it in order to create a crack in the darkness... AND sometimes I have had friends say it for me when I was simply not able. Praise God for his faithfulness!
