Ordinary Time.....
Many of the most deeply spiritual moments of my life haven't happened just in my mind or in my soul. They happened while holding my son in the middle of the night, or watching the water break along the shore, or around my table,
watching the people I love feel nourished in all sorts of ways.”
― Shauna Niequist, Bittersweet: Thoughts on Change, Grace, and Learning the Hard Way
It is Monday morning,
the air is cool--probably because I was having a hot flash last night-and decided to turn down the thermostat that controls the air conditioning-don't tell Big Daddy.
. ..it's still cool outside
and
a thin layer of dew covers everything in the early morning darkness.
the off color house is quiet this morning....even the dogs, Hershey and Chocolate are content having just been fed their dog food--with a warmed up hot dog mixed in--don't tell Big Daddy about that either!!!
It is my favorite time of year,
fall,
and
just this weekend end
the artist began IT's job of creating
a wonderful array of color against a still green background.
It is breathtaking and I swear
one can almost see the changes occur over the hours--it is moving so fast.
I love the diversity of the autumn color and the minister at church yesterday reminded me that it is a testimony to the wonder of
God's creation. I think she is right about that one.
Any of you who have read my blog for awhile will know what to expect in the upcoming days----pictures of leaves----I find them a wonderful rich piece of work--especially at this time of year.
There is a sacredness if you will
a richness
autumn harvest
color splashing
pumpkins and corn mazes and sweet potatoes cooking.
While spring brings forth a bursting of life,
it's like the world knows it is getting ready to settle down for
a rest of sorts
they world knows it and we know it as well
perhaps...
that is why we relish
those last few days of sunshine
why we take that walk or run on the cool morning
when our breath makes smoke and
before we know it
we are acting like a kid---smoking on the Holy air--drifting in and around us.
Life
it is sacred
all of it
ordinary days with plaid pajama pants
cuddled up on the couch,
soup cooking on the stove kind of days,
the quiet of early morning
and the wonder of body warmth
when I snuggle up to Big Daddy after the cool down comes following the hot flash.
It is just an ordinary day
Monday
the start of a new work week.
Fall is arriving and before too long
winter will settle over us
it is ordinary time
plain old
settle into fall
ride the rhythm of fall kind of time.
May we stand where ever we are today
and relish
the wonder
of
life
plain old ordinary peanut butter and jam
kind of life
and
realize
just how blessed we are.
Life
ordinary life
cherish it
relish it
LIVE IT.
Happy Monday......

ps. to the reader in Florida
who sent off color daughter
a donation last week to help replenish her China fund---
thank you
the impact on her was impressive...
plain old ordinary former Kentuckians
making a difference
in the lives of an off color daugher
and I say
Thank you MS. L----I hope your still dancing!
