Have you Lost your Marbles????
I've Lost My Marbles!
said Tootles in the movie "Hook" (marbles are his happy thoughts)
Have you lost your marbles?
In the movie, Hook, Tootles looks around on the floor, searching for something. When questioned, he says, "I've lost my marbles."
We all just assume he is crazy until Thud Butt gives them back to Peter in Neverland and then we realize that
Tootles really did lose his marbles--real marbles---metaphorically meaning his "happy thoughts".
Have you ever lost yours?
Oh it has happened to me on more occasions that I'd even like to confess. I struggle with issues of depression and some days,
I struggle with anxiety mixed in with all of this...
some days..sometimes some weeks...
it is the truth for me
"I've lost my marbles"
As I descend into the "dark cloud"
I have a sense of where I'm going because I've been there before--and even if I will myself to stay away from it..
it starts to settle over me..
often in a hazy cloud of forgetfulness
if I'm lucky
I catch a glimmer of it and
can do things to ward it off...
other times..
well the Eeyore cloud
comes up as quickly as a storm following a steamy hazy day...
catches me unexpected
moves over and drenches me with fear and melancholy and dreadful isolation.
I've struggled with this for years...
years...
probably since I was a teen
but was diagnosed
after the birth of my children.
Loosing my marbles is
part of my life....
but
over my journey
I have learned to trust in what I know works
which changes over time..
I do everything to combat the dreadful visitor that robs me of my
"happy thoughts"
coupled together
it works most of the time.
I 've learned that spiritual work, hard physical exercise,
therapy, medication, journaling, art..
it is all the balm
to help me
remember where I put them---my marbles--my happy thoughts.
Some day I will share more of this story with you...but if I don't quit I will be late for my next stop....
If you are loosing your marbles today....
hold on...
there is hope
reach out
and
do what ever it takes to find them....
happy thoughts that is.
happy Wednesday...
hope you find all your marbles
and have a great day!
hugs

I've always appreciated that part of the storyline in Hook. Thanks for reminding me what my marbles are.
We lose our marbles—our happy thoughts—and then we find them. It's part of life's mysterious ebb and flow. I have to remind myself when I am feeling low, that in time, there will be better days.
i too have lost my marbles on many occassions... sometimes i wonder if when i find them - well are they all there? or do i lose some of them for good each time... you know, the accumulative effect...
the past few days, i've really lost many of them...i'm struggling to keep them all together... i will...
Hehe, I'll look for my marbles after I have coffee.

I love that part of hook too! Thanks for sharing this bit of hope. Dropping by to follow from Blog Frog and hope you will too! www.rebeccalynndunning.blogspot.com. Have a great day!
When I was a child I loved playing with "my" marbles....you see my step-father is 12 years older than my mother and he had lots of marbles that he let me play with.....I have no idea what happened to them....The Otherhalf is a Firefighter, and four kids, could hide your marbles in minutes, but in all seriousness I do not think I saw those marbles since the 80's-LOL-------but today even if I did find them, I would be even able to enjoy them.....my Father's Birthday is today and he passed away a year and half ago, I can not believe how sad I am today........I do not think I am going to make it through the day and it's only 0213.....
I have lost my marbles frequently in life. Over the past few years, it was more and more frequently. Thanks to a shift in thinking and hugs, I think I may have found a more permanent place for them. Here's to hoping to you find your more permanent place soon. {{{HUGS}}}
Dear Pleemiller,

Yes, I lost my marbles too. But if you don't spill them out and clean them up once in awhile, what good are they?
