New Pics of the Baby Birds.....

Cletus and the sisters three
Cletus is the one in the middle....he's the greediest!

more..more..more
see how Cletus sleeps so he can be sure to get the most!

This pic was taken by sitting still on the top stairs of our second story deck.  They are darker because there isn't much light underneath the floor.  Their nest is on a cross board underneath the second story deck but above our patio furniture located below.  I've been watching them through the crack in between boards in the floor from above their nest  since I discovered their eggs a few weeks ago.   It's getting very crowed down in there.  They are squirming on top of each other, pushing and shoving.  As I watch I see that birds, like people have different personalities. The one with his neck stuck up the highest is the greedy one in the bunch.  He's always pushing the others, jumping in front of them and almost always sleeps with his mouth open so that he can be the first one his mom notices---I've been calling him Cletus for some reason.  There is a smaller one, whose body is more on the bottom supporting all the weight--I've decided that she will probably be the hardest worker in the bunch.  She has to use all her energy to move her head above Cletus who is always pushing and shoving and stretching his wings.
They are beginning to open their wings to stretch and as you can see they are getting some feathers--still have punker rock hairdo's--they remind me of Rod Steward in some ways.
Poor mom is out most of the time now.....searching and scratching for food.  I watch her catch things, watch  her peck and push and wind those worms around her beak.  I've been lucky enough a few times
to see her actually drop stuff in their mouths...she doesn't seem to mind my constant watching or else she is getting used to the crazy woman who lays down and squints through the crack.
This morning it was raining and cold and she stretched her body over the tops of the babies...of course Cletus had his head all pushed out in case of a fast food call.
They continue to teach me about life...about people...and about our connection to everything.
I will miss them when they fly away....miss their company..miss their teaching....
but for today and a couple more...
I'll watch greedy Cletus and his sister three and see what new wonder I will learn.

Thankful for a Slow Sunday where I could have the opportunity to see the wonder of the world
and still be amazed and fascinated as four little birds...

Love the name Cletus it seems so apt. I am wondering how you know it's a boy and his sisters...oh wait, I know - he's the pushy one!

These are so cute, I can't wait for our mocking bird eggs to hatch.
