Just another day....

Rita: What did you do today?
Phil: Oh, same-old same-old.
from the movie Groundhog Day

The alarm clock sounded this morning and I rolled over and poked my husband, who rolled over and hit the snooze.  The feeling was all too familiar.  The day started out the way it does every Monday---alarm sounds and suddenly I feel like I'm back stuck in the rut just like Phil in ground hog day--"same-old same-time.
I was tired when I got up and stayed tired all day.
I was uninspired most of the day.
There was no burning bush Moses events, cause I wasn't lookin'.
There was no goose-bump aha! moments,
or radical moments of inspiration....no "come to Jesus"
same-ole
same-day.

Same-ole, Same-day uneventful days happen when I overlook my own self-care.  I ate too much at Ms. Sandy's party, I stayed up late watching tv on Saturday and I didn't rest well on Sunday.  To make up for the extra piece of steak----I did some extra time on the treadmill--which caused me my hips to hurt which caused me to be irritable.  I didn't pray today--not even one of those Will Ferrell, " dear tiny Jesus, with your golden, fleece diapers, with your tiny little fat balled up fist" kind of prayers.(from Talladega nights).

So after some reflection, my prayer is that tomorrow will be different--no more same-ol same-day kind of stuff.

I will open my day with a beckon to the Universal Possibility,
I will seek a path to help my neighbor,
I will listen instead of speak,
have compassion instead of complacency,
and attempt to hold out love and grace and mercy to all I encounter.

but first, I have to get to bed early......self-care is the avenue to getting rid of ground hog kind of days.

no more same-ole same day----for I am blessed!
