"HUNKERING DOWN"

"time to hunker down"
Definition of Hunkering Down:   to settle in or dig in for a sustained period  for a good long wait —

I flew out into the world today,
full of zest and life,
excited I was,
inspired and renewed.
loved I felt,
landed in the world,
sleep freshly wiped from my eyes,
and it all started...
hungry empty people
plugging their empty burned out plugs into my freshly charged body,
They swarmed around me,
fought for my attention,
asked me questions,
acted out,
pulled the very energy from my soul,
sucked the marrow and life out of my bones,
wore me down,
tired me out,
pulled me down.

When I took all of it I could,
I left that place and
I flew away home,
leaving them behind to fight and scratch amongst themselves,
brought nothing back but my shell,
no atoms of energy left,
drained and empty,
flew back to my little abode,
landed,
nested,
wrapped all mine in their nest,
threw them a bit of worm,
fluffed up my feathers,
went into my little hole,
put my head under my wing,
closed my eyes,
and hunkered down...

and it starts all over tomorrow.
so for now...
I will rest in the hunker,
become whole in the hunker,
plug into the energy
and rejuvenate my soul.

hunkering...
that's what I'll do.
good night!
